Stetson University

DeLand, FL

General Description:

The SU combination of academic excellence, lively campus life and attention to civic and social responsibility positions students to reach their full potential as informed citizens of local and global communities. Students graduate with a professional skill-set, independent judgment, a global perspective, a grounding in ethics and a strong sense of leadership.

Our students engage in small-group learning, in classes led by Ph.D. professors who share expert knowledge, teach students how to apply what they've learned, and serve as mentors. Students practice skills in real-world settings. Professors conduct research with undergraduates.

The DeLand campus, 25 miles from Daytona Beach and 35 miles from Orlando, is home to the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration and School of Music.

SU was founded in DeLand in 1883, and the 175-acre DeLand campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The most recent capital improvements initiative to the DeLand campus was launched in the 2009-2010 academic year and includes:

addition of a coffeehouse in the Carlton Union Building (completed),
renovation of Nemec Hall into pet-friendly housing (completed),
renewal of landscaping and walkways in the campus core (ongoing),
upgrades to classrooms and the addition of more energy-saving lighting (ongoing).

Test-Optional Admissions Details

Stetson University values academic achievement, commitment to personal values, leadership, talent, character and initiative above standardized testing. Therefore, submitting standardized test results for admission consideration is optional. Score-optional consideration is an alternative for applicants who feel that their test scores don't adequately reflect their level of academic achievement and/or accurately predict their potential. However, if you feel that your test scores are a good reflection of your ability, send them to the Office of Admission and they will be considered along with your other supporting materials. In most instances, applicants choose to submit their test scores.

Stetson University's testing codes are 0756 (ACT) and 5630 (SAT).

ACT and SAT test scores for English, critical reading an/or writing will be evaluated to ensure that first-year students are placed into appropriate classes.
